Application for the Online Training for Press Officers 2022

Brussels, 20 - 22 April 2022, (2-6PM CET)

Election Observation and Democracy Support (EODS III), a project funded by the European Commission to provide training and methodology support to EU election observation, will organise an online training for Press Officers in European Union Election Observation Missions from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 April 2022.

The training intends to provide participants with a better understanding of:

  • Role and standard tasks for the Press Officer in EU election observation missions (EU EOMs);
  • EU methodological framework for election observation;
  • EU Data Protection Regulation (EU DPR) and its implications for EU EOM visibility and communications;
  • Approaches to visibility and audio-visual materials aimed at targeting wider audiences, particularly through social media channels; and
  • EU EOMs external communications and visibility.

The training will focus on the role of Press Officers (POs) in implementing a communications and visibility strategy during EU EOMs, including the return visit. It will also aim at introducing the broader scope of work expected from EU EOM Press Officers in the visibility and communications context. This includes the establishment of social media as a key communication channel to increase the visibility of the missions with a wider audience.

This event is designed for experts with strong media and communications skills and/or election observation background.
