Training on EU Election Observation and Follow-up to recommendations

On 25-26 May, EODS co-organized an online training for EU officials from Delegations in different countries and Headquarters on ‘EU Election Observation and Follow-up to recommendations’. During the two-day activity, participants gained insight into topics such as, the objectives and methodology of election observation missions, logistic and security aspects of observation, the role of EU Delegations in supporting election missions, how to use the Database of EU EOM Recommendations, as well as how to support domestic observers and electoral assistance programming to promote follow up to election recommendations. Practical experience of these aspects was shared by guest speakers from EU Delegations in Peru, Bolivia, Liberia and Nigeria. Current challenges to observation, such as ICT and elections as well as social media monitoring, were also addressed. The event was jointly organized by EODS, EEAS and FPI. A speaker from INTPA also contributed.
