This EODS training aimed at providing participants with tools and knowledge in order to participate in EU EOM core teams as press officers. The training focused on developing participants’ skills in public information and outreach activities within the context and needs of an EU Election Observation Mission. During the four days course, participants were introduced to topics relevant to the work of a press officer in EU EOMs, with a special emphasis on roles and responsibilities, crisis communication management, mission outreach, and making the best use of public information tools to communicate missions' goals and activities. Participants were also trained on international obligations, commitments and good practice related to elections.
The training was held in Brussels between 21 to 24 October 2015 and combined presentations, discussions and case studies. In addition to these, there were written exercises aiming at developing participants’ reporting skills. Participants received a feedback on these exercises and on their overall performance.
