EODS organised a training for the position of Data Analyst (DA) in European Union Election Observation Missions (EU EOMs) from 19 - 22 September 2023, in Brussels. The activity brought together 12 participants with relevant experience in data analysis, from different EU Member States, namely from Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. Three proficient trainers with relevant experience in EU EOMs facilitated the training, which also benefited from the presence of officials from the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) and the European External Action Service (EEAS). The four-day training offered the opportunity to introduce the participants to topics relevant to the work of a Data Analyst in an EU EOM, with a focus on the role and specific responsibilities, data retrieval, verification and correction, tools and methodology, and drafting of EU EOM reports. The training emphasised a practical approach simulating tasks that would need to be carried out on an observation mission.
