The EODS training for political and election campaign experts (PEC) in EU EOMs aimed at providing election observation practitioners with tools and knowledge to participate in EU EOM Core Teams as political analyst and campaign experts.
During the course, participants were introduced to topics relevant to the observation of campaign financing, sources for political and campaign experts, as well as campaign rules and fundamental rights involved in election campaign activities. Through different exercise and drills, trainees went also through the observation of political parties, and description of political landscape. An important part of the training covered the international obligations, commitments and good practice related to elections and in particular legal framework for political parties and campaign.
The training combined presentations, discussions and case studies. In addition to this, there were reporting exercises aimed at developing participants’ skills in line with EU EOM reporting requirements.
