EODS workshop on observation of election technologies

A two-day EODS event on the methodology for observing election technologies took place on 3 and 4 December 2024. A group of 10 experts who have been deployed as election analysts on recent EU Election Observation Missions (EOMs), as well as representatives of the European External Action Service and the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments took part in the event. The participants and facilitators debated on topics such as international principles and institutional framework for election technologies, biometrics and voter registration, electronic voting and Internet voting, results transmission systems, Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and Cybersecurity, among other subjects. These workshops, organized by EODS, are advanced courses targeting experienced EU EOM analysts. This type of events aims to encourage peer discussion, experience sharing, methodological updates and to increase knowledge on specific subjects pertaining to the EOM areas of analysis and assessment.
