From 14 – 17 November EODS Team Leader Holly Ruthrauff participated in the annual implementation meeting of the Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation (DoP). It was the first time that the DoP meeting was hosted by the African Union at its headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the meeting, Ms. Ruthrauff moderated the panel discussion Data Protection and Election Integrity focused on how election observers can assess data protection issues in the election context. Following an active discussion, participants recommended that the DoP community draft a guidance note on this issue in the coming year.
