The Election Observation and Democracy Support (EODS) organised an online training for first time Press Officers in European Union Election Observation Missions (EU EOMs), from 20 to 22 April 2022. The training gathered 8 participants from 8 different EU Member-States, namely Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Spain.
The training aimed to provide participants with an understanding of the role of the Press Officer in EU EOMs, the EU methodological framework for election observation, and the EU Data Protection Regulation (EU DPR) and its implications for EU EOM visibility and communications. The training was also focused on the new approaches of EU election observation to visibility and audio-visual materials aimed at targeting wider audiences, particularly through social media channels, and on the priorities to consider when establishing a communications and visibility strategy during EU EOMs.
Experienced trainers on communications and creation of visual contents for online platforms, key speakers, and colleagues from the European External Action Service (EEAS) Strategic Communications Division (StratComm), have been invited to share their work and experience on communications.
