Participation in the AU-UNDP Expert Group Meeting on Developing a long term observation methodology with the AU, Johannesburg.
The coming into force of the African Charter for Democracy, Elections and Governance in February 2012 gave impetus to the African Union (AU) to extend its election observation activities to pre-election processes. UNDP conducted an assessment of how the AU might move to long term observation and EODS participated in a review. Following this participation, EODS developed a short training program to help the AU train its first cadre of long term observers.
