Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE)

The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) is an independent civil-society and nonprofit organization focusing on ensuring democratic electoral processes, founded in Lebanon in 1996.

The association aims to stimulate political dialogue and participation of Lebanese citizens in the political process, and to reform the administrative and electoral systems to ensure accurate representation and effective election participation. LADE promotes legal reform, conducts workshop and field events with citizens and monitors and reports on electoral processes.

In 2009, the LADE hosted for an Arab group of experts and civil society activists to monitor the 2009 Lebanese Parliamentary Elections. This initiative led to the inception of the Arab Network for Democratic Elections, which is the first coalition for independent civil, society associations focused on elections, democracy, human rights and good governance.

The Network aims at promoting democracy, developing and reforming the electoral systems and legislation in Arab countries, and promoting the role of civil society organizations in the field of monitoring and follow up to elections. The Network monitors elections in Arab countries and issues reports. The Network also conducts research and studies related to elections and trains specialised teams in electoral monitoring. The Network aims at promoting democracy, developing and reforming the electoral systems and legislation in Arab countries, and promoting the role of civil society organizations in the field of monitoring and follow up to elections.
